Biography

Terry Stacey is a British cinematographer and director, born on July 24, 1962, in Sussex, England. He pursued his education at the University of Manchester before relocating to New York City in the early 1980s. There, he worked as a still photographer and musician at The Collective for Living Cinema, delving into Super 8mm filmmaking and experimenting with music videos. 

 

Stacey's passion for storytelling led him to create and edit Super 8mm shorts, and he embarked on documentary filmmaking during his travels through South America, England, India, and Iceland. His diverse experiences have significantly influenced his cinematic style. 

 

 

In 1997, Stacey moved to Los Angeles, where he established himself as a prominent cinematographer in the film industry. His notable filmography includes The Nanny Diaries (2007), P.S. I Love You (2007), In Her Shoes (2005), Friends with Money (2006), and American Splendor (2003). He has also contributed to television series such as Dexter (2006), Sex and the City (2002), and Wonderland (2000). 

 

 

Stacey's work has garnered recognition in the film industry. In 1999, his short film The Dream Catcher received a special mention at the Thessaloniki Film Festival. Additionally, in 1995, Bad Liver and Broken Heart, starring Sam Rockwell, was screened at the Berlin International Film Festival.
