Sathyan Anthikad is an acclaimed Indian filmmaker and screenwriter who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema. Born on 3 January 1954 in Anthikad, Thrissur, Kerala, he is known for his realistic, humorous and socially relevant films.

 

He began his career in the 1970s, initially working as an assistant director and lyricist. He later established himself as a director and screenwriter, often creating stories centered on ordinary people, family relationships and social issues, blended with gentle humour.

 

Sathyan Anthikad has directed numerous successful films, including Nadodikkattu (1987), Pattanapravesham (1988), Varavelpu (1989), Gandhinagar 2nd Street (1986), Pingami (1994), Veendum Chila Veettukaryangal (1999), Narasimham (2000), Manassinakkare (2003), Rasathanthram (2006), Vinodayathra (2007), Innathe Chintha Vishayam (2008), Kadha Thudarunnu (2010), Oru Indian Pranayakadha (2013), Ennum Eppozhum (2015) and Njan Prakashan (2018).

 

He has frequently collaborated with writers such as Sreenivasan and Lohithadas, as well as leading Malayalam actors including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Jayaram, Dileep and Sreenivasan. His films are particularly noted for their natural dialogue, relatable characters and observations of Kerala's social and family life.
