Sasidharan Arattuvazhi
Biography
Sasidharan Arattuvazhi was an Indian playwright and screenwriter who worked primarily in Malayalam cinema. He was born on 25 August 1955 in Arattuvazhi, Alappuzha, Kerala, and died on 21 January 2001 at the age of 45.
He began his career as a playwright, with his first professional stage play being Kolayaali. He later developed an interest in screenwriting and made his film debut with Nettippattom (1991). Although the film was not a major box-office success, it gained appreciation among a section of viewers.
Sasidharan went on to write around 20 screenplays and 12 plays during a career spanning more than two decades. His notable screenwriting credits include Yoddha (1992), Ayalathe Adheham (1992), CID Unnikrishnan B.A., B.Ed. (1994), Vardhakyapuranam (1994), Kaliveedu (1996), Ishtadanam (1997), Aalibabayum Aarara Kallanmarum (1998) and Jananayakan (1999).
His screenplay for Yoddha, directed by Sangeeth Sivan, combined action, comedy, fantasy and adventure, while Kaliveedu, directed by Sibi Malayil, explored marital relationships and family life.
Sasidharan Arattuvazhi died in 2001 after suffering from kidney-related illness for several years. He was survived by his wife, Sudhakutty, and two daughters.
