Rohit Dhawan, born on December 26, 1983, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, is an Indian filmmaker and screenwriter known for directing commercial entertainers in Bollywood. He is the elder son of veteran director David Dhawan and the brother of actor Varun Dhawan. Rohit pursued a filmmaking degree from New York University, which laid the foundation for his career in the Indian film industry.
Career
Rohit began his career in the film industry by assisting on films like Don (2006) and Partner (2007). He made his directorial and screenwriting debut with Desi Boyz (2011), a comedy-drama starring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham. The film marked his entry into mainstream Bollywood cinema.
In 2016, he directed Dishoom, an action-adventure film featuring John Abraham, Varun Dhawan, and Jacqueline Fernandez. The movie was noted for its stylized action sequences and camaraderie between the lead characters.
Rohit's latest directorial venture is Shehzada (2023), a remake of the Telugu film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. The film stars Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon and continues his trend of directing mass entertainers.

Rohit Dhawan married entrepreneur Jaanvi Desai on February 10, 2012, in Goa after dating for seven years. The couple has two children: a daughter, Niyara, born on May 30, 2018, and a son, Abheer, born on May 4, 2022.
