Ratheesh Vegha
Biography
Ratheesh Vegha is an Indian music composer, singer, music producer and arranger who works primarily in Malayalam cinema. He was born in Palakkad, Kerala, and is based in Chennai. He began his career composing advertising jingles before entering the film industry.
Vegha made his debut as a film music composer with Cocktail (2010). The film's songs, particularly “Neeyam Thanalinu,” became popular and helped establish him as a composer.
He subsequently composed music for films such as Beautiful (2011), Run Baby Run (2012), Poppins (2012), Lokpal (2013), Orissa (2013), Ladies & Gentleman (2013), D Company (2013), Silence (2013), Picket 43 (2015), Aadupuliyattam (2016), Marubhoomiyile Aana (2016), Swarnakkaduva (2016), Achayans (2017), Fancy Dress (2019) and Thrissur Pooram (2019).
Apart from composing, Ratheesh Vegha has contributed as a playback singer, lyricist and music arranger. He also wrote the screenplay and story for Thrissur Pooram (2019).
His work has earned several honours, including the Kochi Times Film Award for Best Music Director, the Mirchi Music Award South for Best Upcoming Music Director, and the Kerala Film Critics Association Award for Best Music Director for Orissa.
Ratheesh Vegha is recognized for bringing a blend of Indian classical influences, contemporary pop and Western musical elements to Malayalam film music.
