Biography

Rajeev Pillai is an Indian actor, model, and former cricketer who primarily works in Malayalam cinema, while also appearing in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada films. Born on February 18, 1982, he began his entertainment career as a model before making his acting debut in City of God (2011).

Early Life and Background

Rajeev Govinda Pillai was born in Kerala and trained as a dentist before pursuing a career in modeling and acting. He became associated with major Indian fashion events, including Lakme Fashion Week and other prominent fashion shows. His modeling career eventually opened the way for opportunities in cinema.

Acting Career

Pillai made his acting debut as one of the leads in Lijo Jose Pellissery's Malayalam film City of God (2011), portraying Sony Vadayaatil. He subsequently appeared in films including Bombay March 12, Teja Bhai and Family, Karmayodha, and Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal.

He continued working across South Indian film industries, appearing in productions such as Thalaivaa (2013), Aambala (2015), Oru Muthassi Gadha (2016), 7 Naatkal (2017), Diwanji Moola Grand Prix (2018), and Pathinettam Padi (2019).

His later credits include the Hindi biographical drama Shakeela (2020), Satyameva Jayate 2 (2021), Sumesh & Ramesh (2021), Coffee with Kadhal (2022), Amigos (2023), and Malaikottai Vaaliban (2024).

Although primarily associated with Malayalam cinema, Pillai has worked in several Indian languages. His filmography includes Tamil projects such as Thalaivaa, Aambala, 7 Naatkal, Coffee with Kadhal, and Weapon, as well as Telugu projects including Amigos and Hidimbha. He has also appeared in Hindi and Kannada productions.

Before and alongside his acting career, Pillai established himself as a fashion model and became one of the prominent male models from Kerala. He has also represented the Kerala Strikers in the Celebrity Cricket League and served as the team's captain. He additionally participated in celebrity badminton competitions.
