Ranjan Pramod
Biography
Ranjan Pramod is an Indian screenwriter and director who works primarily in Malayalam cinema. He began his career as a screenwriter with Randam Bhavam (2001) and quickly established himself through a series of successful films.
He wrote the screenplays for several acclaimed and commercially successful films, including Meesa Madhavan (2002), Manassinakkare (2003), Achuvinte Amma (2005) and Naran (2005). His writing is often noted for its grounded characters, emotional storytelling and attention to everyday life.
Ranjan Pramod made his directorial debut with Photographer (2006). He later directed Rose Guitarinaal (2013), Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu (2017) and O.Baby (2023). Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu was particularly well received and earned the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value.
Before entering cinema, he studied editing at the Adyar Film Institute and worked as an assistant to cinematographer-filmmaker Rajiv Menon. He also worked on advertising films, experiences that contributed to his filmmaking career.
