Biography

Nanda (8 January 1939 – 25 March 2014), popularly known as Nanda, was an Indian actress who worked primarily in Hindi cinema. Born Nanda Karnataki, she began her career as a child artist before becoming one of the leading actresses of the 1950s and 1960s. She was admired for her graceful screen presence, natural acting, and versatility, appearing in romantic dramas, family films, and thrillers.

 

 

Nanda starred in several successful films, including Toofan Aur Diya (1956), Chhoti Bahen (1959), Hum Dono (1961), Jab Jab Phool Khile (1965), Gumnaam (1965), Ittefaq (1969), The Train (1970), and Prem Rog (1982). She worked alongside many of the era's biggest stars, including Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, and Manoj Kumar.

 

 

She received multiple Filmfare Award nominations during her career and remained one of Hindi cinema's most respected actresses. Nanda passed away on 25 March 2014 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances in Indian cinema.
