Biography
Nandaa Dorairaj, born as Govind Durairaj in Coimbatore, is an Indian actor and producer who primarily works in Tamil cinema. He made his debut with Mounam Pesiyadhe in 2002 and gained recognition for his roles in films such as Eeram (2009) and Anandhapurathu Veedu (2010).
Early Life and Personal Background
Born to Durairaj and Rani, Nandaa is the grandson of former Union Minister M. Kannappan. He has a younger brother named Karthik. In 2013, he married Vidyaroopa. His interest in acting led him to enroll in the Film Institute in Chennai in 1998, where he completed a diploma in acting.
Film Career Highlights
Nandaa's journey began when he was discovered by producer S. Thanu. His initial film project, Enna Solla Pogirai, was shelved, but he made a strong debut alongside Suriya and Trisha in Mounam Pesiyadhe. He then went on to play lead roles in films like Punnagai Poove (2003), Selvam (2005), Kodambakkam (2006), and Agaram (2007), the latter of which received positive reviews.
His breakthrough came with Eeram, a critically and commercially successful supernatural thriller produced by Shankar. He later worked with Shankar again on Anandhapurathu Veedu. Over the years, Nandaa transitioned into action roles with movies like Athithi (2014), Katham Katham (2015), Adhibar (2015), and Kallaattam (2016).
In 2018, he reunited with Suriya in Thaana Serndha Kootam, a box-office success. He also ventured into digital content with Tamil’s first web series, produced by Ekta Kapoor and directed by Kaushik. In Zhagaram (2019), he portrayed a reluctant treasure hunter with conviction, and in 2020, he took on dual roles in the family drama Vaanam Kottatum.
