Mushtaq Jalili
Biography
Mushtaq Jalili (27 October 1927 – 14 October 2004) was an Indian screenwriter known for his contribution to Hindi cinema. He was a respected writer who worked on several films as a story writer, dialogue writer, and screenplay writer during the 1960s to the 1990s.
Born in Hyderabad, India, Mushtaq Jalili was the son of renowned Urdu poet Fasahat Jung Jaleel, popularly known as Jaleel Manikpuri. He began his career in the film industry by working as an assistant story writer with filmmaker A. R. Kardar. Later, he worked in the story department under P. N. Arora and gained further experience as an assistant writer with Mukhram Sharma.
Jalili established himself as a talented writer with films such as Kaun Apna Kaun Paraya and Begaana. He wrote dialogues for Mohabbat Zindagi Hai, and contributed screenplay and dialogue writing to Dillagi. He also wrote the screenplay for Ek Phool Do Mali and the story and screenplay for Pyaar Ka Rishta.
His later writing credits include the screenplay for Dharkan, Do Musafir, and Mr. Phandebaaz. He also wrote dialogues for films such as Bonny and Safari.
Mushtaq Jalili passed away on 14 October 2004 in the Juhu area of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He is remembered for his significant contribution to Hindi film writing and for his role in shaping the narratives and dialogues of several classic Bollywood films.
