Biography
Born on August 26, 1984, in New Delhi, India, Mohit Marwah hails from a family deeply rooted in the Indian film industry. He is the son of Sandeep Marwah, the founder of Noida Film City, and Reena Marwah. His maternal uncles include renowned actors Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, and Sanjay Kapoor, making him a first cousin to Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and Janhvi Kapoor.
Education and Training
Mohit completed his schooling at Don Bosco School and pursued higher education at the University of Delhi. Driven by a passion for cinema, he enrolled at the Asian Academy of Film & Television (AAFT) in Noida. To further hone his acting skills, he attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York.
Career Beginnings
Before stepping into acting, Mohit gained experience behind the camera as an assistant director under Vikram Bhatt, working on films like "Elaan" (2005), "Jurm" (2005), and "Deewane Huye Paagal" (2005). He then transitioned to acting, featuring in short films such as "Strangers in the Night," produced by Dharma Productions, and "Love Shots," produced by Yash Raj Films.
Breakthrough and Notable Works
Mohit's major acting debut came with the film "Fugly" (2014), where he played the lead role of Dev. The movie, produced by Akshay Kumar, brought him into the limelight. In 2017, he portrayed Colonel Prem Sehgal in "Raag Desh," a period drama directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, earning critical acclaim for his performance.
Personal Life
In February 2018, Mohit married Antara Motiwala, a fashion stylist and niece of former actress Tina Munim. The wedding was a grand affair attended by many Bollywood celebrities.
