Kelvin Yu

Biography

Kelvin Yu (born July 28, 1978) is a versatile American actor, writer, and producer.   

 

 

Born in Santa Ana, California, Yu pursued his higher education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he majored in film, theater, and television.   

 

 

Yu began his acting career in theater at the age of thirteen. His early television work included guest appearances in popular shows such as Frasier, ER, Gilmore Girls, and The Shield. He made his film debut in the 2003 comedy The Utopian Society and later appeared in Grandma's Boy and the critically acclaimed film Milk. He also had a recurring role in the Netflix series Master of None. More recently, he has been seen in Wonder Woman 1984 and the TV series The Afterparty. In 2025, he is slated to appear in the miniseries Dying for Sex.   

 

 

Beyond acting, Yu has established a successful career as a writer and producer. He is a writer and executive producer for the animated hit series Bob's Burgers, for which he has won an Emmy Award. He also serves as a consulting producer on the animated series Central Park and co-created, wrote, and executive-produced the Disney+ series American Born Chinese with his brother, writer Charles Yu.
