Biography

Javar Seetharaman (9 July 1921 – 22 March 2001), also spelled Jawar N. Sitaraman or Javar Seetharaman, was an Indian actor, screenwriter, playwright, and film director who worked primarily in Tamil cinema. Renowned for his commanding screen presence and distinctive voice, he portrayed a wide range of roles, including judges, lawyers, doctors, police officers, and villains. He also made notable appearances in Hindi films.

Early Life

Javar Seetharaman was born on 9 July 1921 in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. Before entering the film industry, he worked as a journalist. His passion for theatre led him to writing and acting in stage plays, which eventually paved the way for his successful film career.

Career

Seetharaman made his film debut in the late 1940s and went on to become one of Tamil cinema's most respected character actors. Besides acting, he wrote stories, screenplays, and dialogues for several films and also directed several productions.

He was admired for his versatile performances and frequently collaborated with leading stars such as Sivaji Ganesan, M. G. Ramachandran, Gemini Ganesan, and Jaishankar.
