Harisree Ashokan
Biography
Harisree Ashokan is an Indian actor, comedian and filmmaker who works primarily in Malayalam cinema. Born on 6 April 1964 in Thrissur, Kerala, he is widely known for his comic performances and supporting roles.
Before entering cinema, Harisree Ashokan worked as a telegraphist with Indian Railways. He began his acting career through mimicry and later entered Malayalam films during the 1990s.
He gained widespread recognition through comedy roles in films such as Ramji Rao Speaking, Meesa Madhavan, Punjabi House, Parakkum Thalika, Ee Parakkum Thalika, CID Moosa, Thenkasipattanam, Kalyanaraman and Megham. His comic timing and distinctive mannerisms made him one of the popular comedians of Malayalam cinema.
He has appeared alongside leading Malayalam actors including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Jayaram, Dileep and Suresh Gopi. Although primarily known for comedy, he has also taken on serious and character-oriented roles.
Harisree Ashokan made his directorial debut with An International Local Story (2019). He has continued to act in films while occasionally working behind the camera.
With a career spanning more than three decades, Harisree Ashokan remains a familiar and respected figure in Malayalam cinema, particularly for his memorable comic and character performances.
