Early Life and Education

Chang grew up in a musical family and developed an interest in electronic and contemporary music. He studied at Carnegie Mellon University, where he earned a B.F.A., and later received an M.F.A. from the California Institute of the Arts. He also studied electronic music under composer Morton Subotnick.
