David Brenner (November 3, 1962 – February 17, 2022) was an acclaimed American film editor best known for his collaborations with director Oliver Stone. Alongside fellow editors Joe Hutshing, Pietro Scalia, and Julie Monroe, Brenner was regarded as part of Stone’s “hot shot” group of rising film editors who helped shape the dynamic and powerful editing style of his films.

Brenner’s work was noted for its precision, energy, and emotional impact, contributing significantly to the storytelling of modern American cinema. In recognition of his professional excellence and contributions to the industry, he was elected as a member of the American Cinema Editors, one of the highest honors for film editors.

David Brenner passed away on February 17, 2022, at the age of 59, leaving behind a legacy of influential work that continues to inspire filmmakers and editors worldwide.
