Biography
Berny-Ignatious is an Indian music composer duo consisting of brothers Berny Puthenveettil and Ignatius Puthenveettil, who have worked predominantly in Malayalam cinema. The duo began their professional musical career in the early 1980s and became known for composing film songs and background scores.
They gained major recognition with Thenmavin Kombath (1994), for which they won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director. Their other notable works include Chandralekha (1997), Kottaram Veettile Apputtan (1998), Sreekrishnapurathe Nakshathrathilakkam (1998), Aakasha Ganga (1999), Pattabhishekam (1999), Priyam (2000), Kalyanaraman (2002), Pulival Kalyanam (2003), Vettam (2004), Chess (2006), Twenty:20 (2008), Marykkundoru Kunjaadu (2010), Kaaryasthan (2010) and Mayamohini (2012).
Berny-Ignatious have composed numerous popular Malayalam songs and have collaborated with several prominent filmmakers and playback singers. Their music is particularly associated with the popular Malayalam cinema of the 1990s and 2000s.
Their contribution to Malayalam film music extends across nearly 100 films, making them one of the notable composer duos in the industry.
