Barbara Eder
Biography
Barbara Eder is an award-winning Austrian filmmaker and director, born in Eisenstadt, Austria, in 1976. She has also worked as a writer.
Eder studied film directing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Before that, in 1994, she spent a year as a foreign exchange student in Brownsville, Texas, an experience that later inspired her film "Inside America" (2010). She also created numerous short films and documentaries early in her career.
Her feature film debut, "Inside America," garnered recognition at international film festivals, including a Special Award for Best Feature Film at the Max Ophüls Festival in 2011 and a nomination for Best Feature Film at the Austrian Film Awards in 2012.
Eder has directed several episodes of successful television series, including "CopStories," "Tatort," "West of Liberty," and the Netflix series "Barbarians." She was the lead director for the second series of the environmental thriller "Concordia" and directed episodes of the international thriller series "The Swarm."
She also wrote and directed the film "Thank You for Bombing," which won multiple awards, including Best Feature Film and Best Director at the Austrian Film Awards in 2017.
