Ashmith Kunder is an Indian film editor, producer, and actor known for his work across critically acclaimed cinema, mainstream films, and digital series. With a career rooted in film editing and storytelling, he has gradually expanded his presence into acting and film production, establishing himself as a versatile creative professional in the Indian film industry.
Early Life and Education
Ashmith Kunder was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He pursued an academic path outside the arts initially, earning a Bachelor of Engineering in Instrumentation from Mumbai University. Despite his technical background, his exposure to cinema through family connections and personal interest eventually led him into the film industry.
He is the younger brother of filmmaker Shirish Kunder and the brother-in-law of choreographer and director Farah Khan, both of whom are prominent figures in Indian cinema.
Career Beginnings in Film Editing
Kunder began his professional journey in the film industry in 2000 as an associate editor on the film Champion. He soon established himself as a skilled editor, gaining recognition for his ability to handle diverse genres and complex narratives.

Transition to Production
Kunder stepped into film production in 2017 with Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, directed by Kushan Nandy and starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film explored the life of a contract killer and was noted for its raw storytelling and unconventional tone.
He later produced The Comedian, starring Satish Kaushik in his final leading role, adding emotional significance to the project and marking an important chapter in his producing career.
Acting Career
Ashmith Kunder expanded into acting with roles that emphasized intensity and depth. He made his acting debut in the Amazon Prime Video series The Family Man, gaining visibility among streaming audiences.
He later played the lead role in the Hindi feature film Agam, portraying an Aghori Tantrik. The film received international recognition and was officially selected for the 37th Cairo International Film Festival, highlighting Kunder’s growing presence as a serious actor.
