Arjun Rampal

Biography

Arjun Rampal is a former Indian supermodel, actor, and producer who rose to fame after making his acting debut in Rajiv Rai’s romantic drama Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat in 2001. Although he delivered several box-office failures initially, he later gained recognition with films like Don and Rock On!!, the latter earning him the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Born in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Arjun is the son of businessman Amarjeet Rampal and teacher Gwen Rampal. He studied at Kodaikanal International School in Tamil Nadu and later graduated in Economics from Hindu College, Delhi University. He is related to former actress Kim Sharma and appeared with her in the film Yakeen.

Arjun married former Miss India and supermodel Mehr Jesia in 1998. The couple has two daughters, Mahikaa (born in 2002) and Myra (born in 2005).

At the peak of his modeling career, Arjun left the fashion industry to pursue acting, determined to break the stereotype that models could not become successful actors. Although Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat failed commercially, he received praise for his performance and won the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year (Male). However, several of his following films, including Deewaanapan, Dil Hai Tumhaara, Dil Ka Rishta, Asambhav, Yakeen, and Vaada, failed to impress at the box office.

His career took a major turn in 2008 with the rock musical Rock On!!, directed by Abhishek Kapoor. The film received critical acclaim and earned him a National Award. The same year, he made his English-language debut in The Last Lear, directed by Rituparno Ghosh, alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Preity Zinta.

In later years, Arjun appeared in successful films such as Housefull, Raajneeti, Ra. One, and D-Day. His 2016 releases included Kahaani 2 and Rock On!! 2. He later starred in Daddy (2017) and Paltan (2018), continuing his presence in the film industry.
