Arfaz Ayub
Biography
Arfaz Ayub is an Indian film director, screenwriter, actor and former assistant director who works primarily in Malayalam cinema. He is the son of actor, screenwriter and film academician Adam Ayub and is associated with filmmaker Jeethu Joseph.
Ayub worked as an associate or chief associate director on several projects, including The Body (2019), Drishyam 2 (2021), 12th Man (2022) and Kooman (2022). He also appeared as an actor in films such as Drishyam 2, 12th Man, Kooman and Neru.
He made his directorial and screenwriting debut with Level Cross (2024), a Malayalam psychological drama starring Asif Ali, Amala Paul and Sharaf U Dheen. The film presents a surreal story set in an undefined world and was shot largely in the Tunisian desert. It was released theatrically on 26 July 2024.
Level Cross was selected for the Indian Panorama section of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). It also won Second Best Indian Film at the 16th Bengaluru International Film Festival.
