Biography
A. C. Tirulokchandar (1930–2016) was an Indian film director and screenwriter who predominantly worked in Tamil cinema. He was known for his emotionally driven films, particularly stories centered on family relationships, love and human values.
Born in Salem, Tamil Nadu, Tirulokchandar entered the film industry during the 1950s and went on to become one of the prominent directors of Tamil cinema. He directed films featuring leading stars including Sivaji Ganesan, M. G. Ramachandran, Gemini Ganesan and Rajinikanth.
Some of his notable directorial works include Veera Thirumagan (1962), Kai Koduttha Deivam (1964), Deiva Magan (1969), Babu (1971), Aval (1972) and Enga Ooru Kannagi (1981). His films often explored complex family relationships and emotional conflicts.
Tirulokchandar was particularly associated with Sivaji Ganesan, directing several successful films with the celebrated actor. Their collaborations became an important part of his career.
Over several decades, A. C. Tirulokchandar made a lasting contribution to Tamil cinema through his sensitive treatment of relationships and strong storytelling. He died on 15 June 2016 at the age of 86.
