CBFC: U 2h 18m Action, Comedy, Drama, Musical 23 Oct, 1981Bishan Kumar, a wealthy millionaire, and Kishan, an orphan, share a deep friendship and live together with Bishan’s widowed mother and their maid. Bishan’s father had once been responsible for sending his criminal uncle to prison. After serving his sentence, the uncle seeks forgiveness and is welcomed back into the family along with his son, Jagdish.
As the years pass, Kishan remains in the village, working hard as a farmer, while Bishan travels abroad to continue his education. When Bishan eventually returns as a grown man, he happily reunites with Kishan. During their reunion, Bishan discovers that Kishan possesses an extraordinary singing voice, one that has gone unnoticed in the village but could potentially make him successful in the world of music.
Bishan introduces Kishan to his wife, Sheela, and their young son, Munna. Convinced that Kishan deserves a chance to showcase his talent, Bishan arranges for him to travel to the city. Kishan initially refuses, but eventually agrees after Bishan persuades him. His first performance in the city becomes a huge success, turning Kishan into an overnight singing sensation.
However, Kishan’s newfound fame is soon overshadowed by tragedy. He learns that Bishan’s uncle and Jagdish have secretly squandered the family’s wealth and assets. Bishan is left financially ruined, while Sheela and Munna are no longer with him. Despite his own success, Kishan remains devoted to his friend and decides to use his musical career to repay Bishan’s debts and restore his lost fortune.
Before Kishan can accomplish this, Bishan is kidnapped by his uncle and Jagdish and held captive aboard a yacht that once belonged to him. The two criminals force Bishan to confess that he was involved in the abduction of several schoolchildren. When Kishan learns what has happened to his beloved friend, the shock becomes too much for him to bear. He suffers a severe mental breakdown and is eventually admitted to a mental asylum.
